Having a hard time getting maps
Having a hard time getting maps
I barely get any maps. Just wondering how you guys get them
Re: Having a hard time getting maps
Mostly from completing boat orders.. There is 1 day a week where you get the double amount of maps... I can't remember which day it is.. But you should look out for that..

One of the ways to get map pieces is to fill a boat order for Carl when he comes to your dock. Another way is to trade some Treehouse or Windmill storage pieces on the islands where you trade two for one on the islands designed for them. I forget the names of them, but the map pieces (scraps of paper, map remnants, map keys) show up at random in the third space on their boards. But you have to be leveled up enough to have your map open (on the land above the Treehouse Storage building). I hope this helps instead of confusing you further.

If you feed the turtle a primo treat bag you get a map piece. I always save them for the turtle

Yeah, the problem is that it takes maps to get to the islands that give maps.
Even once you get the four expansion part trading islets open, it takes a long time to get to relationship level 5 to open the third slot. Those do give the olive/khaki/tan green maps occasionally.
The Ghost Ship Cove trading slot 1 and the cave also give 1 to 3 green maps quite often.
Maps are sometimes given as dive rewards. On my second game, I made good progress by getting maps in Tradefest bonus tiers. Not sure if they come in bonus tiers now. Hopefully they still do for lower level players who still need them.
You need to open the little Carls Cabin island if you haven't yet. That one lets us trade up maps for the next color. 4 green to get 1 red. 4 red to get 1 blue. 4 blue to get one gold. You will need at least one gold map for each of the islands remaining after the first few.
